“I am Sopo Khutsishvili, 25 years old, from Tbilisi. I was absolutely healthy when I was born, but at the age of three I got a virus and as a result of improper treatment I became blind.
In spite of such a huge obstacle my family has never restricted me from doing what I want. I could go outside alone and play with children in the street. However, I realized the extent of my problem when It was time for me to get an education at the Blind School. I must say, however, that it did not cause me stress or depression. On the contrary, I gained a huge power to study hard. In general, the problem or situation of a person does not matter; without education it is just impossible to be a valuable member of society.
Beginning in high school I always dreamt of becoming a lawyer, and I think now I have reached my goal. I graduated from Grigol Robakidze University’s bachelor’s program in law and am currently earning my master’s degree at the same school. Of course, in our environment it is impossible to do all of this independently. My mom and dad, and of course my friends, have never abandoned me. And if I can call myself an educated person it’s because of them.
I want to end up my story with a bit of good news – soon I will have another surgery, and with it I hope my vision will return.”
