Nana Maisuradze

Region: Imereti

City: Zestaponi

Age: 64

I believe that, in this one life, there is nothing more important I could have done than care for my daughter. From the moment Maia was born, I became her caregiver, learning to live alongside her.

When we first learned that she had epilepsy, my mind filled with questions. Maybe tomorrow would be better? Maybe something would change the next day? At first, I held onto hope. But over time, I understood something essential: I had to accept Maia exactly as she is and love her for who she is. Once you make that decision, life begins again, differently, but with clarity.

After several years in Tbilisi, we moved to Zestafoni. There, I encountered a warmth in people that I had not experienced elsewhere. It was in Zestafoni that we found a day care center, a place that has become a true pillar of support in our lives. I trust this center completely.

Maia’s seizures can happen at any moment. That constant risk means I must always be close to her. Still, I know that without the day care center, I could not manage on my own. It is a place where you are not alone.

Society needs to see and understand that children like Maia live among us. They have the same right to live, to belong, and to be included. When people spend time with our children, when they talk to them and truly see them, they understand something simple and important: these children exist, they matter, and they must be taken into account.
